Welcome to my blog! I started this blog as a place to document my journey as a photographer. It's evolved over the last couple of years to include some random musings and a glimpse of what's going with me. If you have any feedback, comments or thoughts, please leave them! Just below you will find quick links to categories of my work. Enjoy!

Awaiting Cora | Lacey Maternity Photographer

Disclaimer: Apparently I have a thing for caps in this post... I promise I'm not shouting. ;) I'm just super excited. :D

This is the third of the 3 promised posts before the end of May... JUST in time!

I didn't mention it in my back to blogging post, but my brother-in-law and his gorgeous wife are making an appearance on the blog again because... THEY'RE HAVING A BABY GIRL! Well, okay, *she's* having the baby, but he helped. :P And she's having a GIRL! That's a big deal in the family we married into... They're all boys! Yes, my mother-in-law lives to tell the tales of raising 4 boys. And they're all fabulous guys. :) There's something special about starting off the next generation with a little girl. Everyone is PUMPED!

We set the date for their maternity session weeks ago, thinking that by the THIRD WEEK OF MAY that spring would have shown up to stay. Alas, not the case in Western WA. At least 70% of the time that I look at the weather app on my phone, I get 6 days straight with rain. So of course, while it was decent on the drive from Kent to Lacey, the rain came harder and harder. Thankfully, they arrived a little bit after we did, so I scouted the park and the rain started to let up! Woot!

One of my favorite things about shooting close friends and family is that I KNOW when I get a real, honest smile out of them. Now, I may have had to draw attention to holding the reflector between my knees to get said smiles, but it was totally worth it. ;)

On our way back to their house, I found myself turning around in my seat saying to my husband, "Look how PERFECT the light is right now!!!!!" We made it back to their house, snuck down the property line between two houses to pop out onto the golf course for just a few minutes. We barely caught the end of the light. I'm glad I dragged her out there!

so in love | Seattle Couples Photographer

I work full time up in Seattle. (I say "up in" like it's so far... 25 miles FEELS far when you're stuck in gridlocked traffic!) I LOVE the campus where I work. There are so many little pockets where the light comes through and my brain goes, "I need to shoot there!!! Where is my camera and some people?!?" In fact, the week after shooting the following images, I found myself walking through another spot on campus and the setting was so perfect, I groaned to myself, "why didn't we come up here?!"

One of my favorite local photographers (hi Susan!) and I have chatted many times about the ideas for individual images and full sessions that just get stuck in her head and won't leave her alone until she creates them. Little did I know how much she'd rub off on me! For which I'm *so* thankful. Without her influence and guidance I wouldn't be where I am today and these images may never have been created. And THAT would have been a travesty! ;)

Meet Jill + Matt. They've been married several years now... I asked them when we were shooting, I think they're in the 9-11 year range. Hopefully they'll forgive me for being forgetful. ;) The ideas swirled around in my mind for weeks, maybe even months before they were created. I love shooting couples. Yes, it sounds weird to say I love shooting people, but with my camera I DO! I hope you all enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed creating them!

Is she not one of the most STUNNING people you've ever seen?

A-slash | Seattle Photographer

Sometimes my darling husband calls my brother Adam, A-slash. Or maybe it's A/, I'm not entirely sure. My husband has a talent for creative nicknames. Whether you call him Adam, JAM or A/, he's always brother to me.

Brother has become one of my most treasured words over the past ten years. I'm fortunate to have two wonderful brothers. They would do just about anything for me and they know that it goes both ways! God knew better than to give me a sister growing up. He knew I'd need these brothers. They did an EXCELLENT job preparing me for my three brothers-in-law!

To commemorate Adam's 29th birthday, we went out and got a few shots of him in his "festive" (I think that's what he calls this) attire before his birthday celebration. I *finally* got to really try out the equipment I got for Christmas to get my flash OFF my camera! I doesn't belong there. ;) It belongs on a light stand! Or a monopod. Or in the hands of a trusty assistant. ;)

I cannot believe it's been almost 4 months...

Since I've blogged! I know tend to blog in spurts, but wow, that's quite the break. Winter quarter kicked my behind! I completed two courses, an upper division writing class on writing in the new media (yup, what I'm doing here!) and an upper division history class on US Foreign Policy. You can see why I checked out can't you? I learned so much last quarter and *hopefully* you'll even see some improvement in the written content. Note, I said hopefully, not guaranteed. ;)

Why haven't I been back since winter quarter ended in mid-March... No good reason. I'm not going to lie or make stuff up. ;) Yes, I've been busy but I find plenty of time to facebook! *hangs head* For those of you who missed me, I'm planning to blog a few things in the near future, my awesome brother celebrating his 29th year, a stunning couple who are so in love I could hardly stand it and my very own brother-in-law and his lovely wife have been featured several times on my blog - here, here, and one more post with broken image links - ahhhhhhhh! I'll fix that someday. :) In the mean time, stay tuned!
