Today someone that I used to be loosely acquainted with almost gave two of her children to the state. She's been homeless and jobless for a while now and just can't get things together. I can't even begin to describe how terribly that squeezed my heart. I hope that she's able to get connected with a group or organization or someone that can help her get back on track. So if you're reading this, hug your little ones (and big ones!) close.

Oh, how sad. I would never have been able to give up my kids to the State. It was hard enough letting their dad have them for the most part after our divorce. But at least I knew that they were being cared for and could see them anytime.
I am thankful everyday for the fact that I have a wonderful family to back me up when I need them.
