Welcome to my blog! I started this blog as a place to document my journey as a photographer. It's evolved over the last couple of years to include some random musings and a glimpse of what's going with me. If you have any feedback, comments or thoughts, please leave them! Just below you will find quick links to categories of my work. Enjoy!

Tuesday Tunes

The other day I was driving up to second shoot a wedding (more about that later) and the radio just wasn't giving me what I wanted... So I dug through the CDs floating around in the console of my SUV and found a copy of Blaine Larsen's Off to Join the World album. I love just about every song, but one that always makes me smile when it comes on is this...

Teaching Me How to Love You by Blaine Larsen

Her name was Sarah Jean, it was a night like this
In front of the Dairy Queen, she gave me my first kiss
I was just ten years old, so I never knew
She was teaching me how to love you

After the high school dance, in my ol' man's car
Holdin' Carol Ann, I tried to go too far
When she said "no", I didn't have a clue
She was teaching me how to love you

Every hand we hold, every bridge we burn
Every story told was another lesson learned

A few years ago, I met Jill one night
Man I loved her so, but I didn't treat her right
When she left me there with my heart broke in two
She was teaching me how to love you

Every hand we hold, every bridge we burn
Every single story told is another lesson learned

So if I should glance in your rear-view mirror
At every failed romance that brought you here
Honey, I can't be hurt by what I see
They were teaching you how to love me
They were teaching you how to love me

One other note...

I'm working the blog, so don't be alarmed if you check it and things are different. I think the new background is staying! :D Now to get the header the way I want it...

Welcome little girl...

My friend Sarah gave birth to a beautiful little girl last month, Nelia Jane. I got to spend some time with her earlier this month. You'd never know from these images how irritated she was with me. ;) Sarah & Patrick, I hope that girl starts letting you get some sleep!

Hogans + Farmer's Market | Auburn Family Photographer

Sunday afternoon I had the immense pleasure of following one of my favorite families (who you met here) around the Auburn Farmer's Market. James & Keely have two of the greatest little boys, one who is (or is just about) 5 and the other is 3 months. I adore the Hogan Family and treasure the time I get to spend with them documenting the growth of their family. Enjoy a few of my favs from the day!

Tuesday Tunes

I'm in a season of growing my faith. Growth ebbs and flows, as do most things in life. Right now I'm being challenged to do the things I know God's calling me to do. This song has been resonating with me a lot lately.

What Do I Know of Holy by Addison Road

I made You promises a thousand times
I tried to hear from Heaven
But I talked the whole time
I think I made You too small
I never feared You at all, no
If You touched my face would I know You?
Looked into my eyes could I behold You?

(CHORUS)
What do I know of You
Who spoke me into motion?
Where have I even stood
But the shore along Your ocean?
Are You fire? Are You fury?
Are You sacred? Are You beautiful?
What do I know? What do I know of Holy?

I guess I thought that I had figured You out
I knew all the stories and I learned to talk about
How You were mighty to save
Those were only empty words on a page
Then I caught a glimpse of who You might be
The slightest hint of You brought me down to my knees

(CHORUS)
What do I know of You
Who spoke me into motion?
Where have I even stood
But the shore along Your ocean?
Are You fire? Are You fury?
Are You sacred? Are You beautiful?
What do I know? What do I know of Holy?

(CHORUS 2)
What do I know of Holy?
What do I know of wounds that will heal my shame?
And a God who gave life "its" name?
What do I know of Holy?
Of the One who the angels praise?
All creation knows Your name
On earth and heaven above
What do I know of this love?

(CHORUS)
What do I know of You
Who spoke me into motion?
Where have I even stood
But the shore along Your ocean?
Are You fire? Are You fury?
Are You sacred? Are You beautiful?
What do I know? What do I know of Holy?

What do I know of Holy?
What do I know of Holy?

Mikayla's 1!

Technically by now she's almost 13 months, but going several weeks without a computer made editing images a little tricky. ;)

Tuesday Tunes

I didn't have a song stuck in my head today, nor did I have one saved up for a week, so getting in today's edition was tough. I'm sitting at home, chatting with a friend on facebook, watching How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and when he's teaching her to ride a motorcycle, out from my speakers came the delicious voice of Keith Urban. I didn't pick the song that was playing, but here's another sappy song for my sweet husband. He threw a killer birthday party for me this past weekend. Complete with some of friends with babies (in case it hasn't been mentioned here, I've been baby crazy since we got engaged over 5 years ago), a castle bouncer to jump in and SUMO suits. Cool huh? In his honor, here's one of my all time favorite Keith songs...

It's A Love Thing by Keith Urban

Yeah, yeah
Ooh it's a love thing
I been working all day long
And I'm ready to come on home to you
All the other guys roll their eyes
And don't realize it's what I want to do
It's what I want to do
They say I'm wrapped around your finger
But they don't understand
That what we got is more than just a diamond
On your hand

Baby it's a love thing, whoa
Baby it's a love thing, yeah

Sure I could hang around and complain about
The way things ought to be
Yeah there's trouble in the world
But you're the girl
Whose open arms are all I really need
And that's why I come runnin'
To be there by your side
So let 'em call me crazy
But it can't be denied

Baby it's a love thing, whoa
Baby it's a love thing, yeah

And it's not about the same last name
It's not a thing that can be explained
It's how you make me feel inside
And the way you hold me everynight

It's a love thing, whoa
Oh baby, it's a love thing, yeah

Here we go now
It's a love thing

They say I'm wrapped around your finger
But they don't understand
That what we got is more than just a diamond
On your hand
Baby it's a love thing, whoa
Oh baby it's a love thing, yeah
Come on it's a love thing, whoa
Oh baby, It's a love thing, yeah
Oh, it's a love thing, whoa
Oh sugar, it's a love thing
No it ain't about no diamond ring
It's a love thing, whoa
Oh baby it's a love thing, yeah
It's a love, it's a love, it's a love thing

Help out a friend of mine???

One of good friends Catherine (who you met here) came up with a clever response to a contest on the nest/the bump looking for the name for their newest Bellybar. If you're on there PLEASE vote for her here! Her answer is "Baby Kicks for Caramel". Help a girl out! :D

Sisters!

I got brothers. 2 of my own + 3 brothers in law. I'm surrounded by brothers. One evening last month (yes, I'm behind!) I spent some time with a family that has 5 girls! You might recognize one of the girls from this entry last fall. Just so you know you're not seeing things, their mom was only pregnant twice. ;) One set of triplets followed by twins. Can you imagine?!? Here are a few of my favorites from the evening...

Thanks so much for hanging out with me ladies! And the guys too. :)

Tuesday Tunes - BIRTHDAY Edition!

Yup, today is my birthday. #29. People keep saying "oh, the big one's coming!" I say BRING IT ON! I've got some good stuff planned for my 30s. ;) So, to mark today in the tunes, I'm sharing another song from my current FAVORITE album, Family by Leann Rimes. I decided this week to make a couple of changes in the way I live. Stuff I've been thinking about for a while now, but hadn't fully committed to yet. Now is the time to change what I can. I'm more of a Diet Pepsi girl than coffee... And I'm quite blessed to say that I do know my mom and dad well enough

What I Cannot Change by Leann Rimes

I know what makes me comfortable
I know what makes me tick
And when I need to get my way I know how to pour it on thick
Cream and sugar in my coffee
Right away when I awake
I face the day and pray to God I won't make the same mistakes
Oh the rest is out of my hands

I will learn to let go what I cannot change
I will learn to forgive what I cannot change
I will learn to love what I cannot change
But I will change, I will change
Whatever I, whenever I can

I don't know my Father
Or my Mother well enough
Seems like every time we talk we can't get past the little stuff
The pain is self inflicted
I know it's not good for my health
But it's easier to please the world than it is to please myself
Oh the rest is out of my hands

I will learn to let go what I cannot change
I will learn to forgive what I cannot change
I will learn to love what I cannot change
But I will change, I will change
Whatever I, whenever I can

Right now I can't care about how everyone else will feel
I have enough hurt of my own to heal

I will learn to let go what I cannot change
I will learn to forgive what I cannot change
I will learn to love what I cannot change
But I will change, I will change
Whatever I, whenever I can

Yes I know it's Tuesday...

Tunes are coming up shortly. In the meantime, check out this contest!
